Rain reduces play to 69 minutes

Third day of four: Worcester 79-1 v Glamorgan. Rain stopped play

AFTER two days without bowling a single ball, Worcestershire and
Glamorgan finally succeeded in finding a window in the weather
for 69 minutes play after tea at New Road, writes Mike Beddow.

The match has now been reduced to a one-innings basis, with 12
points at stake, but Worcestershire`s urgent approach in making
79 for one off 18 overs was abruptly curtailed by the return of
yet more rain.

Hugh Morris, in his last championship match as captain of Glamor-
gan, won the toss, but his bowlers achieved only one success when
Phil Weston (16) was caught behind off Darren Thomas. This
cleared the stage for a brief but rampaging innings by Graeme
Hick in a partnership of 50 in only nine overs with Tim Curtis.
Hick crashed five boundaries within two overs from Darren Thomas
and two more off Glamorgan`s teenage debutant Andrew Davies in
reaching 36 from only 27 balls.
