The England batsman, who won the Gold Award, survived a confident appeal for leg before early in his innings, but then dominated Middlesex`s run chase which was achieved with nine balls remain- ing. Paul Weekes (51), another Gold Award contender, shared in a partnership of 109 with Ramprakash for the fourth wicket, having also restricted Glamorgan`s progress with an accurate spell of three for 33 from his 11 overs. Indeed, Mike Gatting used his spinners for 39 of the 55 overs, and they responded by keeping Glamorgan`s total down to a modest 209 for nine. Steve James (90) again made a significant contribution, scoring his fourth successive half-century in the competition - a record for the county - and taking his aggregate to 301 at an average of 75. Glamorgan were 30 runs short of the total they had hoped for, but their batsmen contributed to their downfall with some injudicious strokes and two run-outs which reduced them to 100 for four after 29 overs. Middlesex also encountered early problems but positive strokeplay from the fourth-wicket pair and a late flourish by Dion Nash took them through to their third win from four games.
