SINGAPORE, April 1: The Singapore Cricket Association may face damages ranging from Singapore $ 500 to 10,000 if the cricket ball damaged any passing vehicle.
The venue is between the streets which are normally carrying heavy traffic all round the clock and with lots of powerful hitters playing here, any big shot might damage any car or bus on the street.
The Secretary of the Association stated that the make-shift arrangements for hosting the tournament had to be made because the association had no ground of itself. "We are paying the club heavy amount for hosting the four matches."
The Secretary added that the organisers knew that there was risk of car damages. "We knew some very hard-hitters are coming to Singapore and the vehicle-owners are in real danger.
"Taking this into account, we have insured ourselves in huge amount and it is now the insurance company that will pay the bills if any car or bus was damaged by the ball."
As the conditions are here, either the insurance company or the association is likely to face quite a few complaints and damage claims.
"The law is very strict here and if we don`t pay the damages we might end up behind bars," he said.
Not only the vehicles are in danger, the lives of the pedestrians are also in danger. The organisers are also insured for that. But will money be a true compensation for the loss of life or for that matter loss of a delicate part of the body.
