Date-stamped : 28 Feb95 - 18:34 Shells/Sandals Trophy 1994/95: Barbados v Jamaica Sabina Park, Jamaica, 25 February 1995 Barbados batted in masterful fashion to defeat Jamaica on a fas- ter run rate in their rain marred Shell/Sandals one-day limited overs cricket game at Sabina Park on 2/25/95. The Barbadians first piled up a massive 293 for eight in their 50 allotted overs and then restricted the Jamaicans to 172 for 3 after 35 overs when rain stopped play prematurely. Barbados after 35 overs had reached 190/2, so by virtue of their rapid scoring rate enhanced their chances of reaching the finals of the competition even if they should lose against T&T on 2/26/95 in the final Zone B game. After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the visitors mauled the Jamaican bowling Man of the Match Floyd Reifer blasting 82, Roland Holder 60, Adrian Griffith 44, Philo Wallace 35 and Vas- bert Drakes 26. An exhilarating third-wicket partnership of 141 between Reifer and Holder in 24 overs was the cornerstone of the Barbadian in- nings. Jamaican medium pacer Frederick Redwood took four for 59 from 10 overs but only debutant swing bowler, Rohan Belight was economi- cal as the Jamaican who lost all four of their matches, added to their own misery by dropping five catches. The Barbadians then bowled and fielded excellently to restrict the Jamaicans despite an aggressive response from Mario Ventura 37 not out, captain Delroy Morgan 31 not out, James Adams 28 and opener Robert Samuels with 45.
