Date-stamped : 06 May95 - 06:29 ENG B+H 1993 - Round 1: YORKSHIRE v NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Headingley, 11 May 1993 NORTHAMPTONSHIRE WON BY 34 RUNS Felton and Lamb put Northants into a strong position on a slow pitch, adding 118 from 30 overs for the third wicket. Yorkshire, however, recovered lost ground as White bowled very accurately and 7 wickets fell for 42 runs in the next ten. Moxon and Richardson appeared to be winning the game as they shared a partnership of 104. But Lamb handled his bowlers skilfully, and both batsmen were out to errors of judg- ment within the space of three overs. As panic set in Yorkshire in turn collapsed, their last eight wickets producing just 63 runs. Richardson was awarded his county cap before play- ing for Yorkshire at all, a break with ancient tradition but perhaps only fair under the circumstances: The club had forbid- den him to wear his familiar maroon sunhat.
