Melbourne
OK, lets start with some good news. The mighty North Melbourne
batting lineup went ape and blasted 4-364 in the day A century
from former Don's keepr Joh Shannon was backed up by Justion El-
liots 78 not out and captain Liam Pickering finally made some
runs with 55. The question is will our bowling backup our batting
, unfortunately I wouldn't bet on it, maybe best if we go for
500. Geelong also had a good day hitting up 7-285 with mid order
bat Rod Kiddle scoring 143, opener Adrian McCormack getting 33.
Good weekend for me. In other unimportant games, Collinwood are
thrashing Northcote, having dismissed them for 85 (seamer
Sleeman 5-37) using the track to full advantage they deaclared
immediatley at 4-87 (maybe 0-0 might have been an idea) Amalfi
scoring 50 not out, an early breakthrough meand Northcote went
in at 1-11. Sometime state batsman Gary Watts got a life at
0 against the peninsula, and they didn't get another chance as he
thrashed a 175 not out. Darren McDonald aided with 74 as
the peninsula bowling lineup struggled without Paul Wilson who
suffered a depressed fracture of the skuill in a second eleven
catch collison for Victoria, and captain Graf not bowling. The
peninsula lost and early wicket and were 1-24 in reply to
4-322. Melbourne minus a number of state players used Jamie Suth-
erland well before he jetted off for the one day match as he
took 4-34 and leggie Garlick 3-53 to dismiss Footscray for 171,
without Ramshaw and Jones, batting was a slight struggle as they
finished at 3-70. Prahran took all day to score 4-295 against
Wrigglesworth bro with Michael O'keefe(77) and captain Andrew
grant 112 not outa. Ringwood managed 228 against South Melbourne
whilst St Kilda were slow in scoring 4-212 against Dandenong
Waverleyawith Warren Whiteside in good form with 85 not out.
