Date-stamped : 30 Apr95 - 10:22 Tour Match: ENGLAND B v PAKISTANIS Played at Leicester 18th-20th August 1982. A disappointing match, watched by few people and badly affected by rain, ended in the draw that had seemed certain after the first day. On an easy- paced pitch, Hampshire`s Emery bowled well in Pakistan`s first innings, albeit assisted by some care- less shots. England captain Marks declared one run behind, and Mudassar`s accomplished century persuaded Majid to set a target of 193 in two hours. Aggressive batting by Kent`s Taylor sug- gested that England were interested, but when he and Parker departed in quick succession, the chase was abandoned. Rain, in any case, brought about a premature close. Contributed by John.Evans (en92jrfe@exeter.ac.uk)
