Date-stamped : 15 May94 - 02:30 India vs Nottinghamshire Nottingham, August 25, 26, 27 1979 - Notts won by 6 wickets Nottinghamshire earned themselves a hadnsome UKL 2750 pay-off under the Holts Products sponsorship scheme when they became only the second county side to beat the touring side. Rice and Hadlee, who was returning from injury, proved too hostile for the Indians on a green wicket and they were bowled out for 149 on the opening day. Although Nottinghamshire could manage only a first innings lead of 50, it proved to be decisive. The Indians lost their first six second innings wickets for 63, and Armanath's resis- tance came to a dramatic end when he was hit on the temple by a delivery from Hadlee and fell back on to his wickets. While he was being taken to hospital with a hairline fracture of the skull, the Indian innings was wound up, leaving Not- tinghamshire to get 112 for victory. They lost four wickets in the process but still won comfortably. Contributed by cp (help@cricinfo.com)
