- Middlesex full match substitute: HH Cobb (GW Beldam).
- Beldam began the match for Middlesex, but had to retire early
due to an injured hand. Essex allowed Cobb to play in his
place, but he did not arrive in time for the first innings.
Trott also injured his hand on the first day and took no
further part in the match. Turner's 111 took 140 minutes and
included 9 fours and 1 five. Warner's 103 took 180 minutes
and included 15 fours. Douglas scored 15 fours in his 151
which lasted 260 minutes
